Inversion therapy counteracts the forces of gravity on the body (particularly the back) by decompressing and elongating the spine. Not only can this relieve pressure on your spinal cord's ligaments and nerve roots, but it can also relax the back muscles that support the vertebrae. And when your back relaxes, the rest of your body invariably follows. The Body Champ IT8070 Inversion Therapy Table can make a great addition to your daily routine, and help to improve your circulation and posture while relieving muscle aches, back pain, and stress.

The IT8070 is easy to adjust, with a deluxe dual-pin system that lets you quickly find the right position (within a height range of 4' 7" to 6' 8"). It's also a breeze to use: once you rest your body against the pad and lock your feet behind the ankle supports, you simply reach your arms over your head. As your arms go up, your body will gradually invert until you're almost completely upside down. The only inputs are your energy and gravity itself. Construction features include a lower spring-loaded pull pin that allows for easy ankle adjustments; four safe and comfortable foam rollers; U-shaped handrails; a safety strap that lets you control the desired inverting angles; and a safety lock for when you aren't using the table.

The IT8070, which folds for easy storage, will support up to 250 pounds.

As a retired manufacturing engineer, I found this inversion table to be well designed and well made. I have been using it for over two months now and am very pleased with it. My advise to new users-- start with brief sessions and gradually increase your time and angle. Give your body time to adjust and empty your pockets before you invert (duh).

Better built than the pictures show,

I am not sure if inversion therapy is effective for helping with my wife's upper back pain or not (it might be too early to tell), but it certainly is not hurting it. She's not comfortable going completely upside-down yet, but when she does finish going about 45 degrees for just a few minutes, her back does crack if she stretches and provides some short-term relief. I do not have any back trouble, to speak of, but I actually enjoying going on the table too. It is relaxing and seems to stretch my back after excercising, etc.

As far as this particular table, the first one arrived damaged in shipping. Amazon, of course, replaced it for me no questions asked like they always do (I'll save the Amazon praises for another post because I'm sure I am preaching to the choir). Upon the arrival and assembly of the new table (which was pretty easy, although I would recommend using your own tools, not the provided cheap punch-cut-out tools) I was amazed at how sturdy and well built the table is. The pictures definitely do NOT do it justice.

The back rest is a little bit firm, but other than that, it is pretty comfortable. For anyone of average height and weight, I think the foam ankle holders will be pretty comfortable (especially with shoes or socks still on) for at least the first 5 minutes of inversion. As I wrote previously, I have never had back trouble, but I did have a relatively serious ankle injury around a year ago, and I find that inverting using these ankle holders actually seems to stretch out my ankle and do a lot of good for me. Obviously that could vary based on your situation, however.

Overall, this Body Champ table is priced great, built very solidly for the money, pretty comfortable, and certainly has not made any pain worse--and seems to provide at least short-term relief. It likely will take many months to determine if it truly does any good in the long run. Especially once you consider the price relative to other tables, I give it a full 5 stars.

HERNIATED DISK RELIEF,

I purchassed this for a family member who has a herniated disk. Whenever his back starts bothering him from lifting and he is in pain, he gets on his Body Champ IT8070 Inversion Therapy Table for 15 to 20 minutes and gets relief. He says he then takes his shower and his back feels so much better. He sleeps good that night and is able to work the next day. He has a herniated disk and this has helped him so much. He does physical labor and lifts all day. He is in great physical shape but has a weak back from lifting so many years. I was concerned that this inversion table would be too short for him, but he said it is adjustable to different heights and is not a problem. He said you do not get on it and instantly invert 180 degrees. You have to work up to it. He really likes it and recommends it.
